Tis the season to be…wedded?? Apparently that’s what a few couples said as they started their lives together this week. It was a particularly heavy week for wedding cakes, and we thought we’d share some of the cakes we made with you!

The cake to the right was a beautiful wedding cake delivered to the Cipriani restaurant in New York City. The couple decided on a popular design with cherry-blossoms on a branch cake. The couple loved orange and red hues, and matched the brides maids’ dresses.

The next cake was another wedding cake delivered to NYC, this time to the Bryant Park Grill. The couple favored a more classic bridal gown white look, and loved the quilted diamond look. As an added touch, the couple went with elegant white roses and a fondant bow topper.

This cake was for a couple that wanted a more wonky and free-spirited design. They held their wedding in out east in Suffolk county.
Congratulations to all who tied the knot in the past week!

Planning for your big day can be daunting. Where does one start? Should one hire a wedding planner to help out? Rest assured though that when you decide to go with CMNY Cakes for your wedding cake, that will be one less thing you will have to worry about.
To get you started on a design, take a look at some of the cakes we’ve done in the past. Be sure to also visit our main Wedding Cakes page, for those looking for a wedding cake in the New York area and beyond!

We’ve had such a busy month with the launching of the new website and of course, the actual cakes that we make(!), that we haven’t had much time to post most of the pics of cakes. Looking back, this Louis Vuitton handbag was made for the customer’s 23rd birthday three weeks ago. She knew exactly what she wanted, and called us periodically to ensure that we knew it! Here is how her birthday cake came out:

I guess they liked how it came out (besides their reaction when they came to pick it up), because her grandmother ordered another cake, which is to be picked up today. It’s another Louis Vuitton handbag cake, but this time, in white with colored LV symbols. We’ll take a snap and post as soon as it’s done.

Besides the Batmobile birthday cake we put together this week, here were some of the highlights of the rest of the cakes our staff put together:
This cake was a first birthday cake for dear Ava, and was actually a vegan cake. We specialize in all sorts of specialty cake flavors and fillings, most notably vegan, organic, eggless and low-sugar or sugar-free. This ensures that our cakes are accessible to all your guests, and that the cake you order can be as healthy as it can be!
The next cake for the International Federation of Accountants. The thought the cake came out really cute!

We received a request for a Batmobile cake and were thrilled to learn that the client wanted a cake of the latest one–the Tumbler.
That was, until we got a closer look at what exactly the Tumbler looks like! Of course we love a challenge, and we realized this was not going to be an ordinary car cake. We settled on a design that incorporated both fondant and gum-paste to recreate the numerous panels of armor. We also decided that since this was a birthday cake for a five-year old, we would wrap the car in yellow/orange windows. An all black cake comes out pretty boring anyway, and a lot of the detail tends to disappear.
So how did we do?? We sure love the result!
We took some action shots of the work. The first image below shows how we started–with essentially sheet cakes that are eventually carved into the shape that’s needed, as you can see in the second image. The third image shows how we cover the final shape with fondant. There was a lot more work involved, of course!
The client Vanessa wrote a lovely blog-post about the cake so we thought we’d link to her:
