We were contacted by a PR agent who came asking for a cake for his client. We of course wondered, who could it be? It turned out to be for Vashtie Kola’s birthday party extravaganza to be held at the Santos nightclub in Manhattan. I was floored because I knew her as the Downtown’s Sweetheart, video music director/New York City fashion icon. Her agent walked in with an Air Jordan sneaker and asked us to recreate it in cake.
