One Busy November 1st!

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 by rsokhi

Boy it was a busy Saturday morning! I don’t know why it was, but almost all our cakes were due by about 12pm yesterday. Friday was I guess too early to party and Sunday too late perhaps. We’re proud of all the cakes this week, but we thought we’d share a few with you.

Fall-Themed Edible Sugar Flower Basket

Mona and I just love how the flowers came out. They were all hand-sculpted sugar flowers (made with gum paste). The delivery was a bit tricky as it was very impractical to arrange the flowers on-site. The delivery to Massapequa, Long Island wasn’t too bad though.

Sweet Sixteen Cake? No Pressure

This next specialty cake was for a sweet-sixteen at this fascinating place in New York City called “Pressure”. It’s a hippified bowling alley in downtown Manhattan.

1968 Dodge Charger R/T Groom's Cake

This was a surprise groom’s cake for both the groom AND the bride! The groom own’s a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T and his coworkers thought a cake of his beloved car would be a great idea.

Colorful Cassandra Cake

This was a gorgeous cake for Cassandra. The requirements were to come up with a design with bright orange, green, lavender and a BRIGHT pink bow.

WOW… It’s a World of Warcraft cake!

Sculpted Cakes - World of Warcraft Bride and Groom Check out this cake. It was definitely a challenge but I think it came out great. The figures were made with modeling chocolate. And mind you this was made on a 90 degree August day! It was definitely a warm day, and the ride over to the New York Botanical Gardens, where the wedding was held, was challenge #2 for this cake. The cake was ordered by a bride who’s husband-to-be was a big World of Warcraft (WOW) fan. It was their second weddings so they decided to have a little fun with their choice of cake. Honestly, I don’t remember the WOW characters’ names. Come to think of it, I don’t remember if I ever knew them! Anyway, they were fun to make, and I hope the couple enjoyed their World of Warcraft groom’s cake.
